Why Your Business Should Be on YouTube

YouTube has more marketing potential than you might realize. It is the second largest search engine and largest video site on the Internet and it has more share-ability than other platforms across the board (even over Vimeo)! 

Why else should you have your own YouTube channel and how can you market your business effectively with this social media tool?

YouTube is a rapidly growing social media website and has large accessibility. 

Over 800 million people visit YouTube and over 4 billion hours of video are watched each month on YouTube. And YouTube isn’t just on the computer! It can also be accessed by mobile phones at any time, anywhere. According to YouTube statistics, traffic from mobile devices tripled in 2011. And don’t forget that YouTube is a social media website – not just a place to upload videos. You can add friends, subscribe to channels, “like” videos, and add comments. 

YouTube is engaging for your audience. 

Videos can create a stronger connection with the viewer. Most people are also more likely to watch a video, especially if it interesting and relates to them. The most important thing to remember is that your video content must be compelling and related to what you are trying to sell. Include expert tips and interviews, how-to’s, frequently asked questions, upcoming events, and advertise your product in videos. With YouTube you also have the ability to interact with viewers and respond to their feedback.

Brand your YouTube channel – make it your own and make your channel stand out! 

Don’t have a generic layout or theme on your page. Put your feature video on autoplay so that when people visit your site you will immediately be talking to them and getting them engaged. Create a playlist of your most popular and best videos that can be seen on the right side of the page. Also make sure your title is relative to the videos, be specific in the video’s description, link everything to your website, and add tags to make your video more findable. 

Link your YouTube channel to other social media websites.

Share your videos on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, StumbleUpon and other social media websites that you use, and also add widgets to your page so that viewers can share a video they like directly with their friends on their personal social media websites. Also add a link on your website to your YouTube channel.
