….And you were instantly sold??
Yeah, me too!
Just a few weeks ago, I signed up for Oprah’s O Magazine once again. I was already thinking about it … then I saw the Oprah tote that came with the subscription. And I sent in my form that day.
Was the tote what made me want the magazine? No. It was already a great product to me. But it was the thing that took me to a place of “YES!! Gotta have it now!” instead of “I’ll decide tomorrow.”
This is how a free gift with the purchase of your service or product can help your clients make a decision!
I’ve personally utilized this approach a few ways in my own wedding business…
At bridal shows or other special events, I “threw in” free Rehearsal Dinner or Bridal Luncheon planning and design when they booked my full service event planning & design package (by X date).
In slower months, like July and January, I’d also do something like “2 extra consultation hours at no additional charge” when you book by the end of this month (insert date!).
And my normal packages always included a complimentary planner to keep track of things (if they desired it), copies of all sorts of templates to help them with planning, like custom spreadsheets for guest lists, seating charts, budgeting, and so forth.
Was this THE deciding factor in hiring me? No. But it did help by giving them a nudge to yes, instead of maybe later!
