Wedding Pro Wednesday – Christine Dyer and Bridal Tweet
Today’s interview is with Christine Dyer of Bridal Tweet . I asked her a series of questions about herself and her awesome business below!
Christine Dyer: My passions are marketing, helping small businesses, and weddings. Over the last 13 years, I’ve held various marketing positions at advertising agencies and corporations. Most recently, I worked at American Express where I led their Social Media Marketing team and grew two of their Facebook fan pages to exceed 1.5 million fans. But I always knew that I wanted to work for myself. Creating BridalTweet.com enabled me to showcase all of my marketing talents. It also has become a creative outlet and platform where I can educate other small businesses in the wedding industry about marketing. Now, I truly feel like I’m doing good in the world
CD: I am helping other small business owners to grow their businesses.
CD: I have an MBA in marketing. However, I believe that I learned more by working in the marketing field. You have to roll up your sleeves and experiment in order to truly understand what works in marketing.
CD: Absolutely the summer time. I love going to my town pool or to the beach. It makes me so happy to be outdoors during this time of year.
CD: I love Twitter. Since I have over 30,000 followers, there’s always someone to connect with.
CD: I’m shy. I have a huge following but I’m actually a quiet person who loves solitude. And while I do say yes to speaking engagements, it’s not my favorite thing to do.
CD: Hmmm. Probably Wonder Woman because I’m able to juggle so much in a day.
NB: When did you start your business? What made you get started?
CD: Believe it or not, BridalTweet celebrated its third anniversary last April. On April 13, 2009, I launchedBridalTweet.com to the public. BridalTweet first began as an effort to create a more open community where wedding vendors could have maximum editorial freedom. Over the past 3 years, this community has become that and much more. Our community has grown up very quickly with over 30,000 people visiting each month. And if you are one of BridalTweet’s 15,000 members, you can all be really proud of what you’ve created here. You’ve taken a REAL leadership role in shaping how the wedding industry will continue to connect and prosper. Today, wedding professionals come to BridalTweet to find: free social media tips, free marketing, free networking, free discussions, and much more!
NB: How do you establish a personal connection with your clients?
CD: I blog once a week and share marketing advice with wedding professionals. I believe that this has been the secret sauce to having deep relationships with wedding pros.
NB: What’s a typical work week/work day look like for you?
CD: Believe it or not, I’m also a stay-at-home-mom. So, I’m constantly juggling things. It’s hard to describe my work day because it is so different each day. But I do work a lot.
NB: How do you “get it all done”? What’s your biggest tip for other entrepreneurs?
CD: I only focus on 3-4 projects at a time that I KNOW will deliver the most results. So, I focus on being as efficient as possible.
NB: How can people work with you? What methods can they chose from?
CD: Wedding professionals can either take one of my marketing courses (http://www.bridaltweet.com/page/brides-on-facebook) or they can advertise onBridalTweet.com (http://www.bridaltweet.com/page/wedding-advertising
NB: If someone wants to work with you, where do you suggest they begin?
CD: JoinBridalTweet.com to not only get a free listing in our wedding community, but to also get my marketing advice delivered to your email inbox each week.
NB: What do you wish people knew most about your business and why?
CD: The way I see it, BridalTweet.com needs to be different. It needs to be worthy of your attention and limited time. Ultimately, BridalTweet needs to be dedicated toward helping you grow your businesses. That’s why our mission statement has become… To provide wedding professionals with innovative marketing solutions and information that can’t be found anywhere else. Each resource that we provide will drive the wedding industry forward and will help wedding professionals achieve the lifestyle that they desire.
