It’s SO Obvious Why They Aren’t Making It

Have you ever looked at another business owner or anyone for that matter and thought to yourself, “well, it’s SO obvious to me why they aren’t making it.” But then you can’t seem to put your finger on why you aren’t getting to your goals… 

I have always had a knack for being able to see exactly what’s keeping someone “stuck” in his or her business (or even in his or her personal life). But it’s not quite as easy for myself. 

If you’re the same way, I’ve discovered something that you can do to figure out what’s blocking you from success, or from the next round of goals you want to break through! 

Sometimes, you’ll get it on the first try, and for some other situations that may be stickier, you may have to try this a few times, but it works quite well. 

What I do is step out of my situation mentally and look at myself like I’m a private coaching client. (In your case, pretend you’re a friend or vendor.) And I simply think, okay so you’re issue is that you can’t break through this goal. Well let’s look at what you have going and see if it’s a marketing or a mindset issue.  

I know you’re probably thinking, “give me a break Natalie. This sounds crazy!” Yes, it  sounds insanely simple, but I promise you it works. I do this all the time! 

What’s interesting is that the answer always bubbles up to the surface, but the key is that you absolutely cannot judge what comes up. 

For example, just this week, I was thinking about this new goal I have set for myself and wanted to figure out what has been keeping me back from breaking through and reaching it. I played this “coaching game” with myself, and the answer immediately popped up that I’m overcomplicating what I want to do, and that I’m actually holding onto some resentment that I need to let go.  

Now if I had judged this and thought, “Whatever, that’s crazy.” Or if I had thought that this was just too simple of a fix, I would have missed it altogether. 

But I looked at this advice from myself. ;-) … and I immediately addressed it. And literally within minutes things started changing around. 

When it comes to marketing or mindset, it’s usually really small changes and tweaks that you need to make. Nothing huge or major. But as Dan Kennedy says, “small hinges open big doors.”
