Goals should be out of reach, not out of sight!

I love this quote from Zig Ziglar in his book See You at the Top: 25th Anniversary Edition

Really think about this - “Goals should be out of reach, not out of sight.”

It’s important to check in with what you believe is possible in your life, because if you don’t believe you can achieve it or see it happen in your life, you’ll get exactly that … coming up short every time. What happens when you shoot out of site is that you immediately have doubts and disbelief already creeping in on your goals. And when this happens, you’re already defeated and that goal will never come into reality.

What I’ve discovered from reading books like Zig’s and learning from other mentors throughout the world is that you must have belief. Unwavering, faith that you can have that goal you want. Not some day, not for someone else, but for you.

Here’s an exercise for you to do today that will help you make your goals:

Make a list of what you want to see happen in your business, your home, your income, your family, and your life.

Now that you’ve done that, go back and rate your desires on the scale of believe-ability. If you believe that you can easily see something happen in your business and/or your life, rate it a 10. If you don’t believe it’s even remotely possible, rate it a 1. Don’t try to make it something it’s not. Be true to yourself,  because you’re only hurting yourself if you aren’t 100% honest with how you really feel.

Now, focus only on those desires that are 8s, 9s, and 10s for you. The rest need to be placed aside …. for now. Until you can move them into 8s, 9s and 10s (which you will be able to do after you see success start taking place).

One example of this is a client of mine who was really struggling to make ends meet. Chris was having a hard time with the idea of being able to make $10k per month in her business and so we needed to start at a more believable place that was a bit out of reach, but not out of sight. So I asked how much she was currently making in her business. It was $500 on average per month. And so the goal we set for her was $1,000 to make per month for three months consecutively.

Interestingly, what happened was that it took the pressure off of having to bring in what felt like a HUGE sum of money and instead focused on something that was much easier to imagine happening in her reality. Then we setup her strategy and method of approach, and sure enough, she made $1,000 for three months straight (over $1,500 the third month). And with this new-found success, she also discovered confidence that wasn’t there before. The new goal became $1750 per month for three months …. and we continue….

It’s quite simple.

The key always, always comes back to you … and your belief that you can do it. And when you believe, action is much easier, and you see what you desire become a reality MUCH faster!

Love and Blessings,
Natalie
